About STAN
STAN was developed by the Local Emergency Planning Committees of Hardin, Jefferson and Orange counties, in partnership with the Industry of Southeast Texas (ISET) and area media. STAN is a multi-function telephone messaging and notification system that gives industrial companies and local agencies the ability to provide the community with important, timely information about emergency incidents and other high profile events occurring in Southeast Texas.
In the event of an emergency that warrants activation, STAN’s ring-down system can place a phone call to your home number providing information on what actions need to be taken in response to the emergency. Capabilities of STAN:
- Delivers emergency messages to the Southeast Texas region through a ring-down system that notifies the area by calling home phone numbers and through calls and/or text messages to registered cell phones.
- Enables the public to call into the system and listen to messages placed there by users.
- Automatically notifies the media when an emergency event occurs.
- Uses different calling zones and is able to alert specific areas that are affected by an emergency.
